Itinerary

  • Day 1: Luang Prabang, Laos

Met on arrival and transfer to your hotel.

  • Day 2: Kuang Si Falls

This morning head out to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfalls and visit a bear rescue centre.

  • Day 3: Luang Prabang

Relax with a day at leisure.

  • Day 4: Luang Prabang to Nong Khiaw

Journey north through a dramatic landscape of jungle-clad mountains and rice paddies. In Nong Khiaw trek to a viewpoint for spectacular views.

  • Day 5: Nong Khiaw

Today explore the surrounding villages by boat and on foot, travelling along the beautiful Nam Ou River.

  • Day 6: Nong Khiaw to Nam Nern Night Safari

Journey deep into the jungle of Nam Et-Phou Louey to experience the wonderfully remote Nam Nern night Safari. The highlight of this trip is the nocturnal wildlife-spotting as you drift down the river. Stay overnight in a traditional but basic Lao bungalow with shared bathroom facilities.

The afternoon is free to enjoy a town that has become a favourite for so many travellers to Vietnam. Options include a trip to My Son, the Cham civilisation's spiritual home, where Cham kings were buried as long ago as the fourth century. Although wartime bombing has destroyed much of the site, there's a number of interesting stone towers and sanctuaries.

  • Day 7: Nam Nern Night Safari to Vieng Xai

After a morning jungle walk travel to Vieng Xai where the ‘bomb-shelter’ caves sit amid the Rocky Mountains. This vast network of caves houses a ‘hidden city’ which supported around 20,000 members of the Pathet Laos, a revolutionary group who operated here during the ‘Secret War’. Tour these incredible caves to see the city’s hospital, schools and even a theatre! This unique cave system offers a fascinating insight into Laos’ recent history.

  • Day 8: Vieng Xai to Pu Luong, Vietnam

Cross the border into Vietnam, where you will be met by your local guide and continue your journey to Pu Luong (6 hours).

  • Day 9-10: Pu Luong

Spend two days discovering the stunning scenery and rural villages surrounding Pu Luong.

  • Day 11: Pu Luong to Hanoi

Drive to Hanoi for your onward arrangements.
